I remain committed to improving the educational experience in my online Human Anatomy course and any future online science courses. While I was not able to fully complete all of my previous goals, such as recording all PowerPoint lectures or incorporating professional speaker, I have gained valuable insights into engaging students in a fully online environment.
I continue to prioritize creating inclusive, student-centered learning experiences and have become more creative in designing interactive activities that encourage critical thinking and active participation. Examples of this can be found in the more creative discussion prompts, such as having students write from the perspective of a red blood cell or an endocrine gland, which make learning memorable and engaging. I plan to expand these strategies and explore additional interactive methods, including review games to further enhance student engagement.
Additionally, I will continue to seek professional development in online pedagogy and inclusive teaching practices to refine my methods and improve learning outcomes for all students.
Lastly, this past year of online interaction with students has emphasized my desire to incorporate virtual guest speaker opportunities and other innovative strategies to connect course content to real-world careers, particularly in nursing and healthcare. I have repeatedly received questions from student related to nursing careers, which I have directed to their College's designated career or academic advising resources. Above all, I strive to maintain a supportive and accessible online learning environment.
